THIS IS WHERE I AM GOING TO LIVE WHEN I GROW UP...
New details of Jean Nouvel's design for a condo tower on Manhattan's far west side have come out. This small neighborhood near the High Line in the West Chelsea gallery district is experiencing a boom in new construction, and it's become a hotspot for edgy design (Frank Gehry's IAC building is across the street.) The curtain wall in Nouvel's tower will be made up of nearly 1700 different-sized panes of glass. These windowpanes will have slightly differing degrees of transparency, and will be set at varying angles. The building's elevator shafts will have random punched windows along the north facade that will not only allow passengers to view the city as they ascend, but also, viewed from the outside, give off a twinkling light pattern as the elevators move.
For those of you in Minnesota, the name Jean Nouvel probably rings a bell because he gave us this:

'MISSED CONNECTIONS'
I read "missed connections" on occasion. It's entertaining to see who is reaching out to the 'guy behind me in line at Starbucks' or the 'guy in the Locker room at the gym'. Also, I always thought it would be fun to have a secret admirer. Well, maybe I don't have one, but someone seems to...
michael b from madison - m4m - 42
Michael, we were buds in Madison in the 80's. We lived in the dorms together, partied and drank. I always wanted it to be more, and I think you did, too. There was one time we messed around while we were on a road trip, and then once at your family's cabin, but both times we played the "I was so drunk" game. I still fantasize about you. Did you marry that girl? Still married? Looking for an adventure? I won't tell anybody.
Location: twin cities
Well, I've got some answers for ya, dude. No, he didn't marry that girl. Yes, Mike still likes 'road trips' and trust me, he gets plenty of 'adventure'. You won't tell anybody, eh?... You won't need to, I just read it on Craigslist.

BEHOLD!
My friend Roman, who, surprisingly enough, ended up quite attractive and heterosexual, is shown here in his senior photo. He graduated from Osseo Sr High, Class of 1990.

SEND GOOD ENERGY TOWARDS...
The Grain Belt Brewery, opened in 1891, now houses the headquarters for RSP Architects. Over 200 architects, designers and technicians work in these studios. On Tuesday Morning at 9:00, I am interviewing to be one of them. The Conference room, cut from the attic of the original brewhouse.
The atrium stairway maintains the original ironwork. "The Pit", where draftsmen and designers work, used to house delivery carriages.

TODAYS CRUSH
Ian James Thorpe is a former Australian Olympian who is regarded as one of the greatest freestyle swimmers of all time. He retired last year and has been laying low ...until now. In the last few weeks, he's been seen out on the LA party scene with Lance and the boys. That's an awfully tight t-shirt there, Ian. Better to show off the askew belt, huh?
I love when athletes come out.
Take a second and skim the Wiki atrticle about him, he's had an amazing career; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Thorpe

THE PISSER AT HOOTERS IS EXCLUSIVE, EVIDENTLY
I took a picture of the sign on the door at Hooters last night because I thought it strange. (Stranger yet is the fact that I was in a Hooters restaurant with two other 'mos, but that's another story.) "Most Men"? ...The Ladies room said "All Women". I'm sure whoever designed the sign meant it as cheeky, but it's also a bit offensive, isn't it? If only most men are allowed to use this restroom, who is excluded? Men of color? Men of short stature? Doubtful. Queer men? Presumably. I didn't walk into a Hooters looking for high-brow cultural experience, but I also didn't expect to have to question if I was entitled to use the restroom. ... and the buffalo wings sucked.

ONLY ONE GIRL SINGS
Pussy! There are 6 girls in the Pussycat Dolls. 5 of them dance on poles while the middle one sings. I was just stoked for X-tina, so I wasn't paying much attention. Mrs. Aguilera was phenom, btw. I didn't take any pics of her because I was too busy watching her dancers.
